Pioneer rapper Gangsta Boo was found dead in her home town of Memphis on Sunday (Jan. 1). She was 43.
TMZ reports the rapper, born Lola Mitchell, was found dead at approximately 4 pm local time. Her fellow Three Six Mafia member DJ Paul confirmed the tragic news with a tribute post on his Instagram handle. Sources say that Gangsta Boo’s death appears to be drug-related insisting narcotics were found on her person and that a fentanyl-laced substance is believed to be at play.
Gangsta Boo rose to stardom after joining Three Six Mafia in 1995, which also included Juicy J and DJ Paul. She was featured on the group’s first five albums. She also released her debut album Enquiring Minds in 1998, which featured the hit single, “Where Dem Dollas At” She partied ways with the group in 2002, and released her second album, Both Worlds *69 and her third album, Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera in 2003.
