Netflix will be celebrating hip hop’s 50 year anniversary with documentary series, Ladies First: A Story Of Women In Hip Hop.
The four episode docuseries will explore the impact of the women in hip hop over the past five decades featuring appearances by generations of artists the pioneers Roxanne Shante, Sha Rock, Queen Latifah, Da Brat, Yo-Yo, MC Lyte, and more as well as today’s new stars Latto, Rapsody, Coi Leray, Tierra Whack, Kash Doll, Saweetie, and more. The series will also include commentary from label executives, producers, stylists, and music journalists.
“We’ll always be stronger together than we are apart,” says Queen Latifah in the trailer. “That’s just how it is.”
Ladies First: A Story Of Women In Hip Hop premieres Wednesday, August 9 on Netflix.
