Out the mud to the top.
SZA has just scored her first No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 charts with her latest album, SOS.
In its first week, the sophomore set launched 318,000 equivalent album units with 7,500 in traditional album sales and 1,000 TEA units. 309,500 of its SEA units equaled 404.58 million on-demand official streams of the album’s 23 tracks. Two songs off the album also debuted on the Billboard 100 charts including “Kill Bill” at No. 3 and “Nobody Gets Me” at No. 10.
Billboard also reports SOS is now the fifth-largest debut of 2022 following Taylor Swift’s Midnights (1.578 million), Harry Styles’ Harry’s House (521,000), Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss (404,000) and Beyoncé’s Renaissance (332,000). The album also becomes the largest streaming ever for an R&B album, the second-largest streaming week ever for an album by a female artist and the third-largest streaming week of 2022 for any album.
SOS arrives more than five years after SZA’s stellar-debut album, CTRL. SOS features the singles “Good Days“, “I Hate U“, “Shirt“, and includes collaborations from Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Congrats!
