2023 BET Hip Hop Awards

BET celebrated this year’s biggest names in Hip Hop with their 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards. The 17th annual ceremony was held October 3 at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and was aired Tuesday evening (Oct. 10).

Hosted by Fat Joe, Kendrick Lamar was the biggest winner of the evening sweeping all of the four categories he was nominated for including Hip Hop Artist Of The Year, Lyricist Of The Year, Best Live Performer, and Video Director Of The Year alongside his pgLang collaborator Dave Free.

Drake and 21 Savage took both Best Duo/ Group and Hip Hop Album Of The Year with Her Loss, Lil Durk and J.Cole’s “All My Life” won Best Collaboration and the Impact Track awards, and Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” danced away with each of the Song Of The Year and Best Hip Hop Video categories.

Ice Spice was crowned Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist, JAY-Z’s “God Did” verse earned him the Sweet 16 honor, and 50 Cent took the Hustler Of The Year Award. Other big winners include Metro Boomin (Producer Of The Year, DJ Of The Year), Caresha Please (Best Hip-Hop Platform), Black Sherif (Best International Flow).

Some of the evening’s highlighted moments were Marley Marl accepting the I Am Legend award followed by a tribute performance by LL Cool J who performed “Around The Way Girl” and Rakim performing “Paid In Full”. Jermaine Dupri celebrated his So So Def record label with a medley with acts Ludacris, Nelly, Da Brat, Bow Wow, Chingy, and Lil Jon among others.

Other performers throughout the night included DJ Drama, Fabolous, Jeezy, T.I., DaBaby, Sexyy Red, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, GloRilla, Fivio Foreign, City Girls, and more. Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, who was honored the Rock The Bells Cultural Influence Award, also hosted the cyphers featuring Lola Brooke, Symba, Cassidy, Scar Lip, Foogieraw, Lady London, Gloss Up, and Bun B.
