After an old surveillance footage showing Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, Diddy has issued an apology of the disturbing video.
On Friday (May 17), CNN released hotel footage from 2016 that shows Combs in a physical altercation with Ventura. Combs was seen shoving, kicking and dragging a defenseless Ventura as she was waiting for an elevator on a floor of the former InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” Combs said in an Instagram post on Sunday (May 19). “I was fucked up — I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable.”
He continued, ““I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I am disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now.”
Following the post, Ventura’s attorney Meredith Firetog issued a statement in response to the apology by Combs.
“Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday. That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”
The release of the video comes in the midst of recent sexual assault lawsuits against Diddy. Diddy settled in a civil lawsuit filed Cassie. In March, Diddy’s two homes in L.A. and Miami were raided by the feds as part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation by federal authorities in New York.
