After wrapping up his epic UK Summer Tour last month, Reggae star Shaggy embarked on the US and Canada leg, landing at the Alaska State Fair last Friday (September 2) for another sensational show.
Mr. Bombastic took the stage at the ConocoPhillips Borealis Theatre to deliver a ‘Reggae-fusion’ performance with Common Kings – an American, Hawaiian, and Samoan Reggae band from Orange County, California.
Alaskan concertgoers rocked out to a catalog of music ranging from a little Rock to Reggae and some Jazz, thanks to the merging of these headlining acts.
“Alaska was awesome! Great audience, super receptive fans – everyone was warm and friendly,” Shaggy told DancehallMag about the experience.
“Great food too – especially loved the crab legs and Barbecue from the local fair grounds. Can’t wait to go back!”
The It Wasn’t Me singer shared footage of the concert on Instagram, showing how he effortlessly raved the large crowd.
“Okay Alaska … you guys showed up!!! 5k strong … and extremely lit🔥… had a great time … until next time … walk gud!” he wrote on one of his Instagram posts.
For the remainder of his tour, Shaggy will be heading to Coarsegold, California this weekend, then its off to Las Vegas, Washington, and then several spots in Australia before arriving in New Zealand mid-November.
The Diamond-selling Reggae/Dancehall star expanded his musical catalog with the release of new Jazz infused album this year. Following the Grammy Award for his collaborative album, 44/876 with rock icon Sting, the two joined forces again for Com Fly Wid Mi. The album, which debuted in May, was produced by Sting and features Shaggy singing the Frank Sinatra songbook in a Reggae style.
Additionally, Shaggy released Mi Nuh Know earlier this year, which interpolates lyrics from Eek a Mouse’s 1981 hit Wa-Do-Dem.
Another record Party Up with Assailant dropped last June.
