Take off your Top 5.
Kendrick Lamar is hot stepping at the top of the Billboard 200 charts with his latest album, Mr. Morale & The Hotsteppers.
The album now dethrones Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti by claiming the largest week in 2022 and the biggest debut since Adele’s 30 album last year. In its first week, Mr. Morale & The Hotsteppers moved 295,500 equivalent album units with 35,500 of the sum in traditional album sales.
258,500 SEA units equated to 343.02 on-demand streams of its 18 tracks. The album is also this year’s largest streaming week of 2022 of an R&B/hip-hop album, and is the second-biggest streaming week for any album, which is currently held by Bad Bunny’s 23-track Un Verano Sin Ti.
Mr. Morale & The Hotsteppers marks Kendrick’s fourth consecutive No. 1 debut album, which follows his previous chart-toppers DAMN. (2017), Untitled Mastered (2016), and To Pimp A Butterfly (2015). Kendrick’s Good Kid, M.A.D.D City debuted at No. 2 in 2012. Overall, Kendrick has five Top 5 albums.
Released on May 13, Mr. Morale & The Hotsteppers is the Compton rapper’s fifth and final studio album on TDE. The double-album features “N95” and collaborations by Kodak Black, Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah, Sampha, Blxst, Taylour Paige, Baby Keem, Tanna Leone, and more. Congrats!
