Clarendon-based Dancehall artist Miguel Wealthy is upbeat about the enthusiastic response to his high-energy, dance-ready Bubble song in the local dancehalls.
“The song was released first with a challenge with the dancehall queen from Kenya and it went viral, and then we shot the video afterwards based on the buzz. After the pandemic, Boom Boom and Harry Hype play it on their live and it just took off inna the street parties in Kingston, right now mi have over 2000 videos of girls from Russia, North Korea, Italy, and Columbia ah dance to the song,” Miguel Wealthy, whose real name is Miguel Page, said.
The single was released on the Rural Area Production label over a year ago, but with the end of the pandemic, the song experienced a resurgence in popularity, streaming well, especially in Spanish-speaking territories.
“It is doing well in Panama, Columbia and Belize, because a disc jockey, DJ Chiquidubs started playing the song and it just took off in the Latin American market,” he said.
