Black Star power.
Talib Kweli and producer Madlib fight for freedom and justice in their powerful music video, “Nat Turner” featuring Sean Kuti and Cassper Nyovest.
Spotted at the Black Star Gate in Accra, Ghana, the Jabu Nkosi-directed visual, Talib and Cassper deliver their powerful messages related to decades of oppression and resilience.
“Going back to Africa is actually not an insult / That would be a dream come true,” raps Cassper as they all venture through the city and touring with Dave Chappelle. “The trip ain’t cheap / The seats, plus food.
“We will never get freedom from imitating oppressors / Divide and conquer keep us from innovating together,” adds Kweli while Seun Kuti blesses the Madlib-production with his triumphant hook.
The track, named after African-American enslaved rebellionist from Virginia, Nat Turner, is off Talib Kweli and Madlib’s Liberation 2 album also featuring Q-Tip, Roc Marciano, Westside Gunn, Mac Miller, Roy Ayers, and more. It is available for stream at Luminary.
